Susan Katherine Carroll is currently the organist and music associate at Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford, CT. A performer equally at home playing Bach on the pipe organ or gospel music on the piano, Susan is a musician who loves to communicate through many diverse genres of music. Susan holds a Master of Music from Yale University and a Bachelor of Music from the Oberlin Conservatory, where she was awarded the Selby Harlan award for excellence in music theory and organ performance.
In addition to over 25 years of church music experience, Susan is also in high demand as a collaborative pianist. Susan has held positions as an accompanist for the University of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College, the Community College of Rhode Island, the Chorus of Westerly, the Junior Providence Singers, the West Bay Chorale, the RPM Voices Gospel Choir and the Providence Gay Men's Chorus. Originally from Syracuse, NY, Susan has brought her creative and multi-faceted approach to churches of almost every denomination including Beneficent Congregational Church in Providence, RI, Trinity Episcopal Church in Asbury Park, NJ and United Church on the Green, U.C.C. in New Haven, CT. As an organist she has performed with the Providence Singers and the South County Chamber Singers. She has been a featured recitalist at St. John's Episcopal Church in West Hartford, CT, Trinity Episcopal Church in Newport, RI, Newman Congregational Church in Rumford, RI, St. Philip's Cathedral in Atlanta, GA and St. Peter Church in Danbury, CT.
